Method of Modern Movement started as a class and was later adapted as a method to enhance other dance and dance fitness classes.
Our mission is to deliver fun, high quality classes to help you stay fit and enjoy movement. We are a community oriented studio, once you come to class we consider you part of our dance family!
WHAT IS THE MOMM CLASS?
Where fitness meets the foundation of classical dance techniques with a Latin flare celebrating Janelle and Jocelyn's heritage. MoMM is a conditioning class that works through a flow of movements that focuses on proper posture and alignment in the body. Through the consistent flow of movement, the method focuses on improving the body’s breath, stability, flexibility, strength, and technique.
MoMM CLASS STRUCTURE
Class begins in a circle symbolizing unison and encouragement. We start with a warm-up jog around the room, followed by a flow of conditioning movements and exercises on the mat.
The second part of class changes in each class. It is structured based on the students’ needs and desires; it would consist any of the following three elements: 1. Modern dance combinations and exercises 2. Bands and ballet barre or floor 3. Deep stretches and meditation (MoMM Stretch).
Latin music in the mix brings an element of high energy and positive vibes. MoMM's energy is inviting and rejuvenating. You'll feel more in tune with your body by the end of class. MoMM is our signature class and we offer two levels MoMM.
WHAT IS MOMM STRETCH?
While Spanish guitar softly plays in the background, you’ll connect to your breath and body, and disconnect to the outside world. MoMM Stretch is a feel good class that starts off with a standing siesta then goes to a floor flow. This class incorporates fluid moves from head to toe while adding some conditioning exercises to circulate blood flow and oxygen throughout the body. This class is both relaxing and rejuvenating while working your stretch to the max
WHY AND HOW MOMM CAME ABOUT
Sisters Janelle and Jocelyn Ordiales were inspired by their favourite classical dance and fitness classes. Training daily with ambition and passion in many styles of dance and fitness for well over a decade, they created a class to combine different aspects of dance technique, conditioning, and stretch: all in one! The MoMM class is a new approach for communities looking to tone their bodies and maintain a healthy physique through movement. The class is designed to help strengthen the body, to build better alignment, and learn the basic foundation of dance in a unique approach. Method of Modern Movement has developed into more than class, it is now a brand and lifestyle.
